Two-dimensional materials for wireless power transfer

Abstract

Wireless power transfer (WPT) is pivotal for powering electrical devices when cable connection is inconvenient or risky. Recent advancements in WPT technology stem from innovative physical mechanisms. This review examines these groundbreaking WPT mechanisms, the impact of 2D materials such as MXenes, graphene, and transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers on wearable and implanted bioelectronics. Essential aspects such as power transfer efficiency, material portfolio, 2D materials' significance, transferable power range, and primary influence areas are discussed. The review concludes with future WPT possibilities for wearable and implantable technologies, including novel antennas, transparent devices, bioresorbable implants, electrotherapy, haptic interface, ultrafast 2D diodes, transistors, charge pumps in the 5G/6G range, and wireless brain-machine interfaces.
