Abstract

The quantum state of a system may be transmitted from one location to another through direct transmission of only classical information, provided the sender and receiver share a non-locally entangled state of the Einstein, Podolsky, Rosen type. This process is called quantum teleportation. Continuous variable, optical quantum teleportation is characterized in terms of he two-quadrature signal transfer and conditional variances between the input and output states. Criteria are derived to define the classical limits and highlight interesting operating points which are not obvious from a calculation of the fidelity of teleportation alone.
