Abstract

Rolf Zinkernagel, together with Peter Doherty, received the Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology in 1996 for discoveries concerning the specificity of the cell mediated immune defence - Professor Peter Doherty (front row, seventh from left). Zinkernagel and Doherty conducted most of their research at the Australian National University's John Curtin School of Medical Research.
