Abstract

An outline of the concepts of the upland soil erosion models of Rose (1983a) and Foster (1982) is presented. Both models are intended to describe the processes of soil erosion and deposition and their interaction. Comparison of the models reveals that different bed-load transport equations are used and treatment of the deposition process is fundamentally different. The data needs of such physically-based models and their future implementation is discussed.
