Abstract

A perturbed sine-Gordon soliton is obtained by perturbation theory for nonlinear waves based on the inverse scattering method. Our result explains the non-newtonian dynamical behavior of the sine-Gordon soliton predicted by numerical experiments of Fernandez et al.
