Abstract

A modification of a commercial pulse-height analyzer is described which enables it to be used in the neurophysiological field to measure the distribution of intervals in trains of nerve impulses, and to measure the probability density of occurrence of nerve impulses during the cycle of a repetitive stimulus. The application of this device represents a considerable saving of time and effort compared to conventional manual compilation. The pulse trains can be processed ''on line.'' Considerable accuracy is obtained and a wide range of trains can be analyzed. Some representative distributions are illustrated.
