Abstract

Ballistic images of a fish in vivo and a Bar chart behind a piece of 4mm thickness chicken tissue were measured using a picosecond optical Kerr gate imaging technique. In the Bar chart experiment, a piece of 4-5mm thickness chicken breast tissue and a leg muscles was used as a scattering medium to cover an Air Force Bar test chart. The 527nm laser pulse illuminated the Bar chart. The forward scattering image light was gated by Kerr shutter and detected by an ICCD camera. Using the chicken tissue as a scattering medium, the effective scattering parameter: μ = μa + μs exhibits a large fluctuation from different types of chicken tissue and different wavelength. The spatial resolution of ≤ 1/2 -mm was obtained.
