On the precision of estimation of half life in delayed coincidence experiments
Abstract
It is shown that the standard error of an estimate of the parameter c in the curve B + Ae-ct, which describes the time decay of a delayed coincidence experiment, is approximately inversely proportional to the square root of the total number of counts. Also, the standard error of the estimate varies approximately in inverse proportion to the coincident counting rate when the source-detector geometry is altered.
