All Sky Camera observations of cloud and light pollution at thirty meter telescope candidate sites

Abstract

All Sky Cameras were deployed at all Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) candidate sites to gather images for assessing the cloud statistics and light pollution. We developed two methods to assess clouds, a manual method based on inspection of blue and red movies, and an automated method based on photometric analysis of the images. We developed a light pollution analysis procedure and find that light pollution at the candidate sites is currently unimportant for TMT site selection. Show more
