Abstract

View of stools at a curved linoleum-topped bar faced with different coloured tiles laid in a stepped pattern. The walls are partially tiled and the floor is linoleum. The room has ornate beams and cornices, a veneered cash register, ceiling lights, a wall clock and fan and an advertisement for Tooth's Sheaf Stout. The Cessnock Hotel was purchased by Tooth & Company in July 1907. On completion of rebuilding in March 1940 the hotel was a two storeyed brick structure with a fully tiled ground floor exterior and an iron roof. Unlike many of the other hotels rebuilt at this time, the upper storey of the Cessnock Hotel retains much of its original exterior façade.
