Asia is currently witnessing the gradual transformation of heritage institutions such as museums, historic places and World Heritage Areas into postcolonial sites of cultural preservation and representation. They are increasingly becoming visitor-centred, exploring their relevance to neighbouring community stakeholders and confronting issues of sense of place and identity in an increasingly globalising environment.(2)
