Abstract

Mechanochemical processing is a unique method to synthesize nanomaterials through the mechanical activation of chemical reactions. The technique allows the production of a variety of nanoparticles with little agglomeration, in a manner that the particle size and shapes are controlled, while offering positive aspects of green chemistry. This article aims to present a brief overview of the solid-state mechanochemical synthesis of nanoparticles. It provides guidance on the successful utilization of mechanochemical processing for the solid-state synthesis of well-dispersed nanoparticles, by discussing selection criteria for appropriate reaction pathways and process parameters.
