Maintenance and transmission of ethnic identity: the case of the Greeks in Canada
Abstract
[Intoduction]: I would like to limit our discussion to ethnic identity as seen by the sociologists, myself included. Specifically, I will briefly touch on the following issues. First: what pushed Canadian society to look into ethnic identity; and why has ethnic identity been of academic interest in Canada; Second: what do sociologists in Canada refer to when they talk about ethnic identity; Third: where does the Greek community in Canada stand on ethnic identity, its current status and its future.
