Eight Hour Day procession, Goulburn - NSW Operative Bakers' Association banner
Abstract
Photograph of Goulburn townspeople watching a parade of horsedrawn workers' organizations' floats proceed down Auburn Street. The second float carries the Operative Bakers Association banner. The banner's imagery includes two men in white aprons and bakers' hats clasping hands above a bushel of wheat. At the figures' feet is depicted a ribbon with the motto: United We Stand . Divided We Fall. Behind the banner, the bakers' float presents a tableau of a working bakery with painted brick walls. Among the onlookers are children, a man with a bicycle, a woman with a stroller and a man carrying balloons. The scene is a north east view of the street and shows the Heritage listed Post Office and its clock tower on the right. Names on buildings include: E. Ashley's Dining Rooms, Alex Davidson and the Hibernian Hotel.
