A-chymotrypsin and urease inhibitory activity of diversolides C, D and e from the roots of ferula diversivittata

Abstract

Sesquiterpene lactone derivatives, diversolides-C (giferolide) (1), -D (malafilin) (2), and -E (fegvolide) (3), isolated from the roots of Ferula diversivittata, Regel. & Schmalh, were evaluated for μ-chymotrypsin and urease inhibition activities. Diversolide-E (3) was found to be a moderate inhibitor against both enzymes while all others were found to be inactive. The IC 50 ± SEM values of 3 were 388.2 ± 1.7 μM, and 116.0 ± 4.8 μM for μ-chymotrypsin and urease, respectively.
