A service oriented architecture for a Health Research Data Network

Abstract

An architecture aimed at providing a technology platform for a new research facility, called the Health Research Data Network (HRDN) was discussed. The two key features of which distinguish HRDN from other services include custodial control over access and use of interfaces; and confidentiality protection integrated into a secure ened-to-end system for data sharing and analysis. This HRDN layer model divided the functionality of an HRDN network into layers of successivly greater functionality, with the top layer closer to an end user's need. The HRDN architecture offers the potential for realizing efficient data sharing for research purposes while offering enhanced confidentiality and privacy protection.
