Abstract

Octahydroxy fullerene C60(OH)8 (see picture) is among the isomerically pure fullerenols with two to eight OH groups that were prepared by selective transformation of fert-butylperoxo groups of fullerene mixed peroxides. Since C60(OH)8 has all OH groups on the same hemisphere, it is amphiphilic and forms stable spherical aggregates in water. (Figure Presented)
