Abstract

Stage-3 cesium-intercalated graphite has been simulated on the computer. The interparticle potential was represented by a sum of the Lennard-Jones and rigid axial quadrupole-quadrupole interactions. The simulation carried out at a temprature of 303.5 K predicts a two-dimensional liquidlike structure for the Cs layer resembling that observed for C24Cs at high temperatures. Density waves are found to propagate up to wavelengths about twice as long as the nearest-neighbor distance.
