Korea's Masan Free Export Zone
Abstract
The Zone was established in 1971 in the hope that it would attract foreign investment and contribute to Korea's export-led growth. It was promoted aggressively in the early 1970s, but since 1974 the Korean government has not seen it as playing a particularly important role in Korea's export growth. Sets out to assess the success of the investment of such zones, and to point out lessons which may be learned by countries at an earlier stage of economic development which are seeking to establish export processing zones.-from Author
