Abstract

The first quantum theory specific to far-off-resonant cw Raman lasers using the Heisenberg/Langevin approach is presented. A to-scale energy level diagram for the three-level diatomic hydrogen system with an enlargement showing the lower levels is given. Data supporting the validity of the theory is presented.
