The phytochemical investigations of Blumea obliqua afforded 5'-methyl- [5-(4-acetoxy-1-butynyl)]2,2'-bithiophene, 5'-methyl-[5-(4-hydroxy-1- butynyl)]-2,2'-bithiophene, 5'-acetoxymethyl-5-(3-butene-1-ynyl)2,2'- bithiophene and 5'-methyl-[5-(3-hydroxy-4-isovaleroxy-1-butynyl)]-2,2'- bithiophene. The first three thiophenes are known compounds whereas the fourth is a new natural product. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic methods.en
