Abstract
Over the last decade, the oncogene MYC has emerged as a key
driver of survival, growth and proliferation in prostate cancer. The transforming
activity of this potent oncogene partly depends on its ability to modulate RNA
Pol I transcription activity which is required for ribosome synthesis. Considering
that cancer cells are dependent on high rates of RNA Pol I transcription,
we explored the efficacy of targeting PolI transcription with a small molecule
inhibitor in prostate cancer.
