Abstract
The depside 4-O-demethylmicrophyllinic acid (1) (4-[2, 4-dihydroxy-6-(2-oxoheptyl)benzoyloxy]-2-hydroxy-6-(2-oxoheptyl)benzoic acid) has been isolated from a lichen for the first time. The structure of this compound and microphyllinic acid (2) were verified by unambiguous synthesis.
