Abstract

A new triterpene, perovskone (1) with a novel carbon skeleton, was isolated from the whole plant of Perovskia abrotanoides (Labiatae). The structure of 1 was established on the basis of 2D NMR spectroscopic studies and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. A possible biogenetic route for 1 was also suggested.
