Abstract

in this paper, we show that the range in magnetic fluxes that is observed in the chemicafly peculiar Ap, Bp and Op stars is similar to that measured in the High Field Magnetic White Dwarfs and the Neutron Stars, which suggests that the magnetic flux is approximately conserved during stellar evolution at least for intermediate to high mass stars. We also discuss the recent evidence of a bi-modal distribution of magnetic fields in white dwarfs and its implications for the accretion induced collapse hypothesis for the origin of the binary millisecond pulsars.
