Abstract

Describes a study of reservoir sediments in Burrinjuck Reservoir, Australia, with three major sub-catchments. The corresponding three arms of the basin and the main basin were sampled. Density and water content of sediment cores were determined. Dating techniques involve consideration of bushfire charcoal, caesium-137, 1925 flood event and the lead-210 (excess). Describes pollen analysis and analysis of diatoms (for nutrient status). Particular applications of these dating techniques are noted in their evaluation. Relates some sediment yield trends to changes in land use and vegetation cover. (C.J.U.)
