CASE FOR A CONSTANT EMBODIED ENERGY TO DOLLAR RATIO.
Abstract
The total energy cost of producing goods and services may be calculated from the manipulation of input-output statistics and is termed the embodied energy. Previous studies along these lines have ignored the energy embodies in labor and government service feedbacks and the solar energy input to the economy. This paper attempts to include these critical flows for a 92-sector U. S. economy using the 1967 data base. Results in total direct plus indirect BTU/ output both including and excluding labor and government service feedbacks and solar energy inputs are compared.
