Abstract

An electrophoretic karyotype of Pachysolen tannophilus has been obtained using Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis. Seven chromosomal bands were separated with one of the bands migrating probably as a doublet. The sizes of the chromosomes were estimated to be between 1 and 3.1 megabase pairs. Eleven loci have been assigned to chromosomal bands, including four involved in the metabolism of df-xylose.
