Synthesis of the 12-hydroxy glbberellins GA31,GA69 and GA70
Abstract
Gibberellic acid has been transformed into the methyl esters of the 12-hydroxy gibberellins GA31,GA69 and GA70. The key steps in the conversions are the transannular abstraction of H(12/gb) by treatment of a 16α-bromo-17-carbinol with lead tetra-acetate and the reductive fission of the resulting 12β,17-ether.
